So i am not finding my Network adaptor in Server 2008 - and therefore cant active the AD and domain controller so i can add all my other systems to my network and have AD do the controlling...
What option do i want in order to enable a network ( so that i can give it an IP address and subnet)

Attached to - Not attached
Attached to - NAT
Attached to - Bridge adapter
Attached to - Internal network
Attached to - Host - only Adapter
Attached to - Generic Driver...
No Network - Server 2008

You most likely changed the emulated network adapator from the default. Revert back to it and see if it's better. The network mode only depends what you want to do and will not make the virtual network card appear differently in the guest.
