Post by avbartolomeo »

Hi Guys

My host system is a Ubuntu 14.04, Virtualbox 4.3.10 Ubuntu r93012.
I have a few troubles when I tried to connect devices in a usb interfaces to a guest Windows 7 64 bits. When I tried to connect the same devices to a Guest using Windows 7 32 bits in the same host the devices works perfectly. I tried this devices in native Windows machines 64 bits and works ok.
I added the my user to virtualbox user group install the extension (for Vbox 4.3). The last error I received was this

Failed to attach the USB device Unknown device to the virtual machine W7.

The USB device with UUID {00000010-0030-0000-b039-8750227f0000} is not currently attached to the host.

Result Code: NS_ERROR_INVALID_ARG (0x80070057)
Component: USBProxyService
Interface: IHost {93269330-48ca-4096-b4a2-1189df336267}
Callee: IConsole {8ab7c520-2442-4b66-8d74-4ff1e195d2b6}

This error was produced when I tried to connect my Garmin GPS. The same device in a Guest Windows 7 32bits works perfect.

Can you help me?
Please don't hesitate to contact me at any time.

USB with a Linux host is fairly straight forward.
  • 1) install extension pack ( on the host )
    2) add user name to vboxusers group ( log off an on )
I also use Garmin and update it in a Win 7 pro guest.

One thing that I have seen cause issues is if you installed the Ubuntu version of VirtualBox ( from the Ubuntu repo ) instead of the one from VirtualBox.org which we support.
