VirtualBox Not Working
Hey. I just downloaded VirtualBox recently. I'm not an expert on computers, so please forgive me if I did anything wrong.
I followed a tutorial to install Snow Leopard on a virtual machine(because snow leopard can run PowerPC Apps). But after I followed that tutorial, I started the virtual machine, expecting to see the familiar Mac interface. All I saw was a black screen with some messages on it, which I didn't understand.
I got a screenshot of it...
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you

Re: VirtualBox Not Working
Actually Snow Leopard couldn't run on a PPC Mac if I remember correctly. I don't remember if Snow Leopard still ran Rosetta.whitebeard250 wrote:Hey. I just downloaded VirtualBox recently. I'm not an expert on computers, so please forgive me if I did anything wrong.

Re: VirtualBox Not Working
Since my memory failed me I checked. Snow Leopard still came with Rosetta. However, if you want to run PPC games in an OSX 10.6 guest, be aware there are no guest additions for Mac guests so no hardware acceleration, which translates to slow performance. Also, you can only run OSX guests on Apple hardware.

Re: VirtualBox Not Working
Thanks for the reply.
But I'm a bit confused about your reply...
My Mac is not a PowerPC Mac, it has a Intel processor. It is Version 10.9, Mavericks.
I want to run PowerPc Applications on it, but it says PowerPC Apps is no loner supported. So I searched on Google, and I saw that one of the ways to run PowerPC Apps on My Mac's OS Mavericks is to use a virtual machine with Snow Leopard, which supports PPC Apps.
So VirtualBox cannot do so?
Thankyou

Re: VirtualBox Not Working
Sorry about the confusion. VirtualBox can run Snow Leopard as a guest. However, if your main interest is running PPC games it will most likely be too slow. If you are trying to run some other PPC App, how it runs will depend on the App.

The tutorial is on Geeky Projects, I cannot post a url because I'm not a member for 1 day yet.
I just created some other virtual machines with different operating systems. All of them does not work...

Re: VirtualBox Not Working
I just looked on geekyprojects.com and there doesn't seem to be any tutorial on installing OSX anything in VirtualBox. Plus there has been no activity on that site since Sept. 2011 so whatever it may have said it would be out of date most likely.whitebeard250 wrote:The tutorial is on Geeky Projects, I cannot post a url because I'm not a member for 1 day yet.

Re: VirtualBox Not Working
Do you have a 10.6 DVD that you inserted in your physical machine and captured it in VirtualBox? Or a 10.6 ISO that you inserted in your virtual CD? Only in those cases you would boot into the installation phase of 10.6. If you do not have a bootable DVD or ISO, you will drop in the EFI shell, just like in your case.
As for the links, you can either put spaces in between the slashes and the dots. Like this:
