I have a couple different machines or guests and they will not run Windows Update. I am running VirtualBox 4.3.12. The error says the service is not running but when I look at the services Windows Update Service is started. Thanks for any help,

The guest is a Windows 7 SP1 OS. I think I answered this myself. I have the guests as members of our Domain and I just created a new guest by applying an image. On first running the new guest I tried Windows Update and went to turn on the Update Other Microsoft Products (Office) and that failed to install, a hint was given that Group Policy may be blocking. I tried removing the guest from the domain and now it is running Update
