I'm using Windows 7 x64 host and guest.
In Virtualbox, you can change the hard drive or DVD name, manufacturer, serial, etc. (Virtualbox manual, 9.9.2.). However, the friendly name always ends with "ATA Device", after the normal formula of ModelNumber (HDD) or "ATAPIVendorId ATAPIProductId" (DVD drive). This text never appears in real machines.
Why does that happen, and is there a way to remove that text?
How do I remove “ATA Device” from msinfo32 and Device Manage

You would probably get a response if you ask the DEVs on their IRC channel #vbox
