You can't just make copies of the original machine and try to add them. You have to clone the original machine, then clone the clone and you should be good to go. So get rid of the copies you made.

you shouldn't have reinitialized MAC. delete the clone and try again.

btw, make sure you have the extension pack installed and make sure your username is added to the vboxusers group on your host.
also, if you could attach the vbox.log for the original guest. (compressed)

hey guys ,
yes the id is part of the vboxgroup
tried a few times different variations ..no luck yet
also shouldnt each vm have a separate mac ?
ok this is where i am now ..
just made a new copy , not selecting to reinitialize mac
vm boots normal as its been doing ..
the made a linked clone of the clone
which booted and aborted the prev clone ( from main vm )

Okay, just to make sure I wasn't telling you something that was incorrect, I installed XP w SP3, cloned it. They both ran fine. Mine are using .vmdk drives so if your original .vhd guest is fine I don't know of any problems with 2 or more guests with .vhd drives. maybe someone else does.

no, first of all, are you sure your removed any copies/clones from VirtualBox other than the original? Not just delete their folders but removed them from the VirtualBox list?
