Unable to Connect XP Guest to Internet

I'm running a windows XP guest on a Windows 8 host. I can't figure out how to connect it to the internet. I tried setting it to a bridged adapter as well as several other changes, but nothing has worked. Please give any suggestions you have.

The simplest way is to do nothing - leave it set to the default setting of NAT. If that doesn't work, the others probably won't either.
Did you try that before you started fiddling with the settings? What happens if you set it back to that?

Read again the other thread you have started on the same subject. Bridged with a wireless device may or MAY NOT work. Most of the times is does not. Try NAT instead.

The OP should make clear whether he has tried NAT, and be clear about any problems seen if so. If not, then make clear why not.

If this thread heads towards being a redundant copy of the OPs previous one - on bridged networking over wireless - then I'll delete this topic.

First, I apologize for posting a new thread. I needed help and I wasn't getting it, so I tried something else.
And more to the point, I did try NAT as well as the other settings. I have just retried NAT again and the same issue occurred as with every setting.
It doesn't appear that the guest is even attempting to connect, which leads me to believe that it doesn't have the ability to connect wirelessly with the settings I've tried.
As for the version of VB I'm using, it is up to date as far as I can tell.
The host has 12 GB of RAM, and the guest is allowed 3 of that.
Both have a 64 bit OS

Fabled, that means that you have to post, VBox.log and your <VirtualVM>.vbox. Zip them. I would also like to see the output of the following command (from within XP's Command Prompt):
ipconfig /all

You can forget about that. There is no wireless in a virtual machine. Your virtual network card always appears as wired. Is that maybe why you can't connect? Are you looking at your wireless networks in the XP guest?

Is there a way to attach the log as a file? It's several pages long, and so is the .vbox file.
But as for the ipconfig /all, it comes up blank.

yes, you compress them. And then choose the upload attachment tab.

you didn't answer socratis or acknowledge what he said. you cannot connect a guest using wifi. your host can be connected by wifi, but not a guest.

Once again, put the EXACT and VERBATIM output. Don't tell us what you see, just copy/paste the output.
Also, answer socratis question.

No, I mean there was literally nothing when I used the command. It says "Windows IP Configuration" as it normally would, but nothing appears under it. It just goes back to the basic command line.

If you don't give the info then I can only assume the problem is in your guest, the IP stack is busted. Contact Microsoft support.

I asked if I can post a link to download the files, because they're each several pages long.

Compress them and use the upload attachment feature below the reply window.
