Shared clipboard not working, Mac host, Win7 guest

Hi, all...

Shared clipboard does not seem to work with virtual box 4.3.12, on Mac OS X Mavericks host and Windows 7 guest. I've got "Bidirectional" set in the Advanced settings under General. Trying to copy just text.

Anyone have any ideas? Thx

Steve

Install the Guest Additions in the guest VM (see User Manual for instructions).

Hi all,
I have same problem but "Virtualbox guest additions" is already installed on the guest system (win8). (and it is loaded, it is on the system tray).
Even it doesn't work, never worked. (shared clipboard and drag and drop neither)

host: Mac OS-X 10.7.5
guest: win 8 pro
virtual box: 4.3.12

Any idea?
Thank you

Bidirectional Clipboard works with plain text and clipped images. You can't use it to copy files. Works in XP, Win7 and Win8.1 and Linux guests.

Drag n Drop I believe only works with Linux guests.

Share clipboard not working. Mac 10.9 host; Linux Ubuntu guest.
Bidirectional clipboard enabled in VM settings.
How to fix?

Thanks
Arthur

What exactly is not working? Did you install the Guest Additions? Please read the following: Minimum information needed for assistance. As far as the "VBox.log.zip" goes, here's what you do:
- Start the VM.
- Observe the problem.
- Shut down the VM. Not suspend, not pause. Shut down.
- Right-click on the VM in the VirtualBox Manager.
- Select "Show Log..."
- Save it, ZIP it and attach it in your response (see the "Upload attachment" at the bottom of the form).

Tks.
copy-paste doesn't work in either direction.
How does one determine whether 'Guest Additions' installed.
I see 3 logs: VBox.log[,.1,.2]. Send all?

You didn't read the thread, did you? Start at the beginning.

Hint: It's in the first response by rpmurray and it says "Install the Guest Additions in the guest VM (see User Manual for instructions)".

That wasn't my question. Anyway, I've determined that directly installing software will be easier than using Virtual Box. Thanks for your help.

00:00:09.702186 File system of '/Users/leyzerov/term2/t3p3/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' (DVD) is hfs
You have only inserted "a" Guest Additions (GAs) CD. You may even have installed them. But this is not where the GAs should be, this is something that you downloaded from someplace else. The correct one should look like:
00:00:01.043938 File system of '/Applications/VirtualBox.app/Contents/MacOS/VBoxGuestAdditions.iso' (DVD) is hfs
And no. You do *not* go manually hunting there for the CD. There is a convenient menu Devices ยป Insert Guest Additions CD Image. Read Ch. 4.2.2. Guest Additions for Linux.

To make matters worse, you've already installed "something" in your Ubuntu guest, only it's not the correct one:
00:00:58.608487 VMMDev: Guest Additions information report: Version 5.1.6 r110634 '5.1.6_Ubuntu'
Do you see that "_Ubuntu" there? That means that those are the forked version of the GAs, not the official ones. You have to uninstall/purge/delete them first, before you install the official ones. Once again, I refer you to the manual.
