I've been using VirtualBox for years - awesome software!!
I just got a new Surface Pro 3 tablet with Windows 8.1 Pro. Miracast was working great until I installed VirtualBox. I think it has to do with the network stack being replaced. Once I uninstalled VirtualBox, Miracast started working again.
I'd love to be able to use both, as I routinely connect to a conference room TV for presentations, and would love to use the new Surface miracast to wirelessly connect.
Thanks!

Re: Miracast
Shouldn't be this topic sent to the Miracast people, since that software breaks and not Virtualbox?

Re: Miracast
I too am having the same issue with Miracast. It's baked into OS Win 8.1 and will be used by many high end users. ie. IT - Bus. Professionals. I'm going to argue the point by saying Miracast is part of the OS and Virtualbox breaks it. It's basically going to be a choice for me and I'm not sure which one I'll make. Why not make it easy and not make someone choose?...I use Hyper-V on servers but will maybe try it for VM Host on tablets/laptops. (The devices that will be used with Miracast).
Oh well, can't have your cake and eat it too...I guess.

Re: Miracast
I would think that a specific issue like this should be pointed out to the DEVs at bugtracker as well as miracast so they can figure out what the issue/s are and fix it.
