accessing linkstation

Hi, I am running win 7 in virtualbox on a Mavericks macbook air. I have been running it successfully for 3 years but have just had to format and re-install Mavericks. The main reason for doing this is to use quicken for my finances. I have lost all my backups and have to start again. I want to back up to my nas (buffalo linkstation). Nas navigator finds my linkstation from within win 7 but when I go into quicken to backup, the browse facility does not show the linkstation. Is there a way to find it from there, please?

I don't know the answer to your question but apparently there has only been one post, ever, about linkstations on the forum from what I can tell, which is here...
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=40116&hilit=linkstation I don't know if it will help at all but making sure the Windows guest is using bridged in the network settings might help. Or perhaps even Bridged Networking. I know zip about networking with guests. Maybe someone else can give you further info.

Above reply is correct : set the VM network config to bridged mode in the enabled adaptor. This will make the VM behave like its directly connected to the network like a real computer.
Next step is to make sure nothing is blocking network access inside the guest itself (Windows firewall, activated by default, must be configured properly).

I guessed correctly.

I really need to read up on networking.
