Help recovering VDI file with 4096 bytes missing

Hi guys
I hope someone with some in depth understanding of the .vdi file format can help me?
I have just experienced the horrible experience of a HDD failure, and one of the files damaged is my precious .vdi file containing my ubuntu vm. Now I know that the file is 100% intact EXCEPT for the first 4096 bytes that were lost. They are presently zero'd out.
Please can someone help / guide me as to what the first bytes should be, and what critical information I need to "put back" in order to recover the data within the .vdi ?
Some details on the .vdi file:
Total file size: 78 Gb
Lost data: Bytes 1-4095
Thanks in advance for any help!
