sptd.sys - page fault in nonpaged area

Post by Aemme »

Good Afternoon,

I am trying to use virtualbox in a windows 7 32 bit environment with an imagine created with disk2vhd.
The imagine comes fom the same machine wher I ma usin Virtual box, for the moment, because afterward I will use this imagine on portable pc running with a Windows 8.1 64 bit.

I have loaded the imagine with Virtualbox but it gives the following error "sptd.sys" PAGE_FAULT_IN_NON_PAGED_AREA. (See attached file).

The configuration for the archive is the one in attachmet Archiviazione.

Do you know why itis happening such error...??

Many Thanks For Your Help

I tried to run in Safe Mode but I don't know for which reason I can't....the F8 seem not working....any idea...?

I have removed the Alcohol52 from the physical machine and then I create again the VHD file but it gives the same error....

I would like to start in Safe Mode....

Which are the other Daemon Tools...?

Then I would suggest as soon as you start your guest you repeatedly hit your F8 key and hope the guest catches the keystrokes.

...yes but I have uninstaleld Alcohol52 so it shouldn't give this error? What I have to do to take the sptd.sys error out in the physical machine?

Just delete the file, and remove it from the registry, with a registry cleaner program.

ok, last night I have corrected an error in BCD and MBR of the disk C:\ where this imagine come from and so I was able to use the F8 key...

..so I have created a new imagine from the physical machine and then I have loaded it as guest in virtual box and the F8 worked there too...

...unfortunately the error was the same also for the Safe Mode...

I have found a program that uninstall or update the sptd key I can use that...?

What about the installation after I have deleted the file? Which are the programs that use this file...? What about Nero for example?

Programs for burning a cd or dvd should not be installed at the guest - instead burn from the host.
Likewise some virtual cd programs will crash a guest, because the drive is virtualized.

The F8 Key now works and I started the guest in Safe Mode but the followinng error is shown:

Code: Select all

A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. disable the driver or check with the manifacturer for driver update. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendor for any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use safe mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select Safe Mode

Technical Information:

*** STOP: 0000007E (0x0000005,ox47F1BDC7,080D869C0,0X80D865A0)
I would delete the sptd file form windows and from the registry but the guest doesn't start in Safe Mode...

Could be now that there isn't enough space on disk C: because Vbox is installed there...? I have created the VHD file on disk D on purpose for this reason...

Any advice??
