Wrong keymap/keyboard in Debian and Mint

Hello !

I am using VBox the first time on a debian host. I used it - until now, mostly
from windows. Installing VBox was easy, but my guests have all the wrong
keyboard or keyboard layout. The guests are installed with system local
en-us like the host itself, but a german keyboard selected [QUERTZ].
So - astoundingly - I have umlauts, but no "/", no "#" and so on. These
problems does not occur on the host itself.

I dropped my first Mint installation, because I thought, I've made something
substantially wrong, but the same problem appears with the debian guest.
The guest additions were installed successfully.

I am running VBox 4.1.8 on debian 3.2.0-4/3.2.57.

Any help would be great. I just try to migrate my whole environment
to linux, but I am failing at many points :-(

Thanks anyway and
best regards,

Hi !

Although I was looking very detailed into this problem, I've overseen
a - not so simple -problem: I installed all this VMs via XRDP. After I
found a person, who had the same problem via VNC, I got a little
alarm light ;-)

I am using XRDP, which may use VNC. After a short internet search
about keyboard and XRP, I found, that this problem really widely
exists ;-)

So solution at horizont.
