Newbie Question .. XP

Post by jwka »

Hi all,

I was just informed in here that TinyXP is some pirateware .. was not aware of that, had a recommendation from someone that just told me it's a "lightweight" installation.

As I have loads of XP licenses, seems not a problem for me to install a full blown, but would like to have it as lean as possible. The only trouble I face is trabelling at the moment and I have not the disks with me.

So newbie question: Is there any legal ISO downloadable that I can use with XP license keys so I do not have to wait till back as I need to make a desicion on what hardware to buy to replace an XP machine that has troubles with the fan.

I need an "XP solution" as one of the servers I run on that machine is XP-ready-only (I run an outdated version of Lotus Domino but that does my jobs perfectly)

Thanks in advance

Thanks, seems that's what I search for.

One more Question: Can I "legitimate" that trial version with some existing XP keys then? That would take the burden od a later "new" install.

Thanks again

I don't know. I've never looked into what has to be done since I don't run XP guests.

I don't know either, but I'd guess not. I suspect you'd run into problems with the CD key being from the wrong marketing channel, i.e. home edition keys can't be used on "Pro" install. OEM, retail and volume license keys are not interchangeable.
