when I try to check for updates, I get: The network operation failed with the following error: Unknown reason

I´m using Windows 8.1, and I tried with Run as administrator, but I get the same result

It could be a glith from the Virtual Box version I´m using? which is 4.3.12

most if not all hosts are having the same problem. I don't know which version first had the problem.
