Guest slow with High CPU usage, while Host shows low CPU

Post by swbfraser »

After using power saving mode, my guest is very slow, while my host shows low cpu usage. Before this it quite responsive.
How do I reset my guest so that it again fully utilizes the host's processing power?

Here are the more details.

My Windows 7 guest has become very slow, often showing high CPU usage in task manager. With the guest pegging at 100%, the host is showing about 20% utilization.

I have a Intel i7-4800 CPU ( 4 core) rated at 2.7GHz.
I have 32gig memory on the host and have allocated 12 to the guest.
I have the guest set to use 4 cores.
The Guest is windows 7 64 bit, while the host is windows 8.1 64 bit.
This started happening when I enabled power save mode on the Host. Maybe its a coincident?
I have am running virtualbox 4.3.10

Not even sure where to start looking for answers. Searched the forums but didn't find anything. Is there a setting or way to get the virtual machine to reread the info about the host system? Please point me in the right direction. Thanks.

Didn't post logs as don't think the would be useful
Tried to append the .vbox config file but system won't let me post that much text so here is an excerpt that I though would be most useful, Starts with the section describing the latest snapshot. Is there a more relevant section to post?

Please post the VM log file regardless, as well as the .vbox but this time, attach the files after zipping them, do not attempt to copy/paste their content in here.

Weird, but it got better when I changed the power settings to full power on my laptop.
funny that would make a difference. You would think the laptop client would not lower its processing power when tit was plugged in.
