Hi all

Just need to conformation been trying to use VirtualBox for first time have been getting error VT-x/AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system. Certain guests (e.g. OS/2 and QNX)

I have look at YouTube on error can't find Virtualiztion from bios also dont' have Hyper-V in list so can't disable it.
So thinking my processor not compatible Virtualization Technology [VT-x]

A bios upgrade not going to change my processor to run Virtualization Technology?


Computer: Acer Aspire R3700
O.S Win7
Processor: Intel AtomTM CPU D525 @ 1.80GHZ 1.79 GHz

According to the Ark info your chip has no hardware virtualization VT-x so firmware isn't going to help.

you can still run 32bit guests. You just have to disable VT-x. They won't run as fast but maybe fast enough.

All of my XP VMs are run without VT-x, they run very well. It's really the GAs that make the biggest difference to perceived performance.

Not to worred about speed I looking to try out wim8 and learn how to navigate round also server 2008 or later.
Was hoping to use my Acer Aspire as it's faster then my HP D530.

Trying to get my skills I had but up to speed with more up today software. Got left behind on Server 2003

All versions of Win8 require VT-x, even 32bit versions. Ditto for win2k12.
