How to set up a 64-bit guest

Greetings!

I'm new to setting up virtual machines and I was under the impression that a 64-bit machine running a 64-bit OS should be able to set up a 64-bit guest.

Is this true? If so, I'm not seeing any options on the windows host to set up anything other than 32-bit OS guests. There is only one link for the Window host, x86/amd64. Does this mean that the 64-bit option is only for AMD chipsets?
I'm currently running an Intel quad core i5 (Sandybridge) at 3.30GHz.

Thanks!

you need to enable VT-x in your computer's BIOS. also, disable Hyper-V if it is enabled.

and yes, "VirtualBox 4.3.12 for Windows hosts x86/amd64" will cover 32 and 64 bit Windows
