Running linux guest with PCI switch

Post by Grhmwdwrd »

Hi,

My linux guess (Linux newinstall 2.6.32.12-295 #2 SMP PREEMPT Mon May 26 14:34:12 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux) has loaded with the following default devices:
newinstall:~ # lspci
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH VirtualBox Graphics Adapter
00:03.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82540EM Gigabit Ethernet Controller (rev 02)
00:04.0 System peripheral: InnoTek Systemberatung GmbH VirtualBox Guest Service
00:07.0 Bridge: Intel Corporation 82371AB/EB/MB PIIX4 ACPI (rev 08)
00:16.0 SCSI storage controller: LSI Logic / Symbios Logic SAS1068 PCI-X Fusion-MPT SAS
00:18.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f2)
00:19.0 PCI bridge: Intel Corporation 82801 Mobile PCI Bridge (rev f2)
00:1f.0 ISA bridge: Intel Corporation 82801GBM (ICH7-M) LPC Interface Bridge (rev 02)

the VBox src (VBox/Additions/x11/x11include/xorg-server-1.4.2/xf86PciIds.h) shows:
static const char pci_device_10b5_8509[] = "PEX 8509 8-lane, 8-port PCI Express Switch";

how do I get my linux guest to start with this pci device?

Cheers
