I am using the following Configuration in Oracle Virtual Box.

Distributor ID: Ubuntu
Description: Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
Release: 12.04
Codename: precise

Guest Details:
Linux root-VirtualBox 3.5.0-23-generic #35~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jan 25 17:15:33 UTC 2013 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

Host Details:
Tried on Windows 7 with 4GB RAM or i5-core or i-7 Core.

On this VM setup, while trying to download / play live TS using gst-launch command, its very slow to download/play the TS content. While playing the Transport stream downloaded, which plays only a gray background. No Video content is displayed.
gst-launch command used:
gst-launch-0.10 dvbsrc frequency=279000000 pids=204:6352:6353 ! filesink location=/tmp/test.ts

Tuner Model used for live tuning to TS:
Hauppage WinTV HVR 9500

Is there any solution to improve the video playback rate or TS download rate in Oracle VM now? Could any one explain why Oracle VM is behaving like this?
This is working fine in VMWare Player with same configuration.

Any suggestions?

But my gut feeling is that you have 3D acceleration enabled. Try it with 3D disabled.

Disabling 3D will mean that video playback uses software rendering exclusively. It will be quite limited.

Windows guests use 2D acceleration to enable video overlays for fast rendering, but for some reason Linux guests can't use that.

The version of VirtualBox you are using - version 4.2.16 r86992
whether you have installed the Guest Additions (in the guest). - Tried with and without guest additions, but same result.
Host & Guest make and version including 32 or 64 bit, and the amount of memory available to both.

Tried by enabling & disabling 3D acceleration - No improvement.

According to the Hauppage website, the Hauppage WinTV HVR 9500 works with Windows 7 drivers so there is no reason it would work with Ubuntu or Mac hosts. It might work in a Windows 7 guest if you create a USB filter for it to pass it to the guest. What were you trying to view it with in the Ubuntu guest?
