Windows XP Guest not Registering Windows 8 Wireless Device

I'm trying to connect to the internet on my guest VM of Windows XP, but it won't register the wireless NIC on the host, which is a Windows 8 machine. It's a Realtek RTL8188E PCI-E 802.11n wireless NIC. Any suggestions?

Please try to search the forums first.
Hint: it's a VIRTUAL card, not your actual card. Your virtual card is not wireless. Wired only. Use NAT or Bridged.

It is bridged. It doesn't work.

Can you tell me what all the network settings should be?

Not without a bit more info. With the NAT setting, the guest gets an IP automatically from NAT and just works. If you switch to bridged, the guest needs to see a DHCP server on the physical network to get an IP automatically. Do you have a DHCP server there?
If you do, use normal network troubleshooting to find why it is not getting an IP automatically, or configure it manually. How you do that requires information which I don't have!

All other devices on the network receive IP addresses via DHCP, yes. I could try going into the router and checking if it actually is detecting the virtual machine. Otherwise, I'll just give it a static IP.

Okay, so the router doesn't see it, and I can't get in to give it an IP, so there's a new problem.

Not all Wireless adapters support bridging. Try setting a static IP and ping something on the network. If that works, the problem is in your DHCP server. Else, your Wireless card doesn't support bridging.

What do I do if it doesn't?

Try the latest device drivers, use a wired interface instead, or find an interface that is known to work with Bridging... This is the kind of limitation which is down to the driver/hardware, nothing that Virtualbox can influence....

Is there some way anyone could assist me via a form of live chat? I feel that would solve this problem more effectively and efficiently.
