Host: Windows Pro 8.1 Running on a Surface Pro 2
Guest: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 with guest extensions installed
VirtualBox 4.2.10
When in the office the Surface Pro 2 is connected to a 1000Mbps Ethernet line and guests has the following adapters defined:
Host only
NAT
Bridged (to the ethernet adapter on the host)
When I am using a public WiFi network the guest adapters are:
Host only
NAT
I have always been able to connect to the internet from the guest when on a public WiFi network.
Today I was on a public WiFi network and the guest could not connect to the internet. At first I thought it might be a restriction of the WiFi router I was connected to. So when I got back to the office and connected the Surface Pro 2 to the ethernet cable I left the network definition for the guest with just the Host only and NAT adapters for a test. The guest could not connect to the internet.
What is strange is that the Host only adapter and the NAT adapter are shown in Network and Sharing Center as a single public unknown network with no internect connectivity.
Any suggestions on how to proceed would be appreciated.
NAT Stopped Working

Re: NAT Stopped Working
Found the problem. At some point the guest changed the order of the adapters or I did. The NAT adapter had a static IP address which was for the host only adapter. Changed it to dynamic request and changed the host only to static from dynamic. Problem gone. Internet connectivity back.
