Win7 to Oracle 6.3 & OraDB

Post by skimmer333 »

Hi All,
I have VBox 4.3.10 installed on a Win7 64bit machine and have an Oracle 6.3 64bit VM.
I have set the Network as NAT.
The VM can access the internet with no problems.
I have an Oracle Database installed, but I am unable to access via the host.

Code: Select all

ifconfig -a
eth7 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 08:00:27:F6:EB:E9
          inet addr:10.0.2.15 Bcast:10.0.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::a00:27ff:fef6:ebe9/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
          RX packets:203 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:242 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:101072 (98.7 KiB) TX bytes:25909 (25.3 KiB)

Code: Select all

route -n
Kernel IP routing table
Destination Gateway Genmask Flags Metric Ref Use Iface
0.0.0.0 10.0.2.2 0.0.0.0 UG 0 0 0 eth7
10.0.2.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 1 0 0 eth7
Whenever I try to connect to the database in SQLDeveloper by using IP 10.0.2.15 I get an error stating the Network Adapter could not establish the connection.
I can access the database in the VM (with SQLDeveloper installed in the VM) using the exact same connection details.
Is there something I need to change in the network settings?

Cheers,
Skimmer

Thanks noteirak.
Setup port forwarding to the VM, but unfortunately that didn't work.
I ran a ping and tracert to the VM and both failed. So looks like it's a network issue here at the work site I'm on.

Oh wells. All good.
Thanks for your time.
Cheers,
Skimmer.

If you explain what you did exactly, like the exact commands you ran to test and the results you got, I could help you further.

Which ports did you configure for forwarding?
Ping and tracert "tests" don't show anything useable with NAT.
