Upgrade Installation on RHEL 6.4: No problem.
Upgrade Installation on Windows 7: Lots of problems
  • "Installation terminated prematurely" error, only message in any logs I can find is a 1603 error, which is the Installshield version of "oops"
  • After removing 4.3.12, I can't get back to where I started. Now bridged networking won't install, the kernel driver path points to a the wrong place, etc.
I've managed to fight back to where I can get the 4.3.10 kernel driver to load, since I can't get the 4.3.12 to install at all. But I'm more than a little disillusioned.

EDIT: Looks like MaxFilters bit another person in the backside: me.

The only clue I had to go on was that bridged networking was MISSING on my 4.3.10 install after I reverted to it. Digging down in those threads, I found the MaxFilters option and reset it. On a lark, since I needed to uninstall and reinstall anyway, I installed 4.3.12 and it worked this time.

If there is an install log, I couldn't find it.

I am running Virtualbox version 4.3.4 on Mac OS X host with Windows 7 installed. If I upgrade to Virtualbox 4.3.12 will I have to reinstall Windows 7?

No, but it never hurts to have a backup.
