VMBox with Linux Mint

Well folks for 2 days now I have been trying to get linuxmint 16 cinnamon running in my virtual box with a windows 8 host OS and everything seems to load fine and with no warnings or error boxes popping up on me, but it just sits there doing nothing. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong or is there known issue?
