Your cpu does not support long mode.

Post by sd4174263 »

cpu: xeon E7320@2.13HZ (support VT and 64bit os)

Host OS:windows 2012

I would like to set up oracle linux 64bit on the vbox4.0 and then it appeared the error message that Your cpu does not support long mode. please use 32bit distribution.

I have already open VT in the bios and XEON E7320 actually supports VT and 64bit OS. I readlly don't know this happended.

could you please give some advice for this issue?

thank you.

Most likely Hyper-V is installed and enabled, which locks the VT-x feature and make it unavailable to Virtualbox.

well, I actually installed and enabled Hyper-V on it.

so, you mean I have to reinstall the hperv if I want to get my virtualbox work.

is there any other way to solve this problem as I actually installed some os in the hyper v and some guys are using these guest OS?

You can't run 64bit guests in VirtualBox if Hyper-v is running, as these are two different VM platforms which compete for resources. You need to disable Hyper-v.
