Hello;
I am using VBOX 4.3.8 on W7SP1 x64 4GB RAM. Recently I installed FreeDOS and wanted to know how to make additional 100MB VDI/VHD file accessible inside the FreeDOS?
(Normally, to try, I just created one and attached it as Primary Slave, and I launched the OS and checked to see if it can access the drive, but it didn't)
Let me know.
Thank you.
Mounting second VDI/VHD on FreeDOS

Just creating the container is not enough. You must partition and format the container for it to become visible ( after mounting it of course )

Actually, I did that. At first, I created a disk of 100MB and then mounted in to WinXP x86 SP3 Guest OS as primary slave, then from Disk management, I allotted the space and assigned the drive letter and formatted with NTFS (default, only one option available), by this time the disk was visible under My Computers, and from there I right-clicked the drive and clicked the "format" and picked just FAT, (not FAT32 or higher) and then did the full format. After I shutdown the guest os and unmounted the disk and then I attached this under the FreeDOS to see if this was accessible.. but still no.
(After you said that... now I am wondering when I attached the disk at first to FreeDOS... I should have checked it under FDISK and then possibly it might have listed under the extended partition or logical partition...)
But my doing must have been worked, theoretically speaking, let me know.

Re: Mounting second VDI/VHD on FreeDOS
Does FreeDOS support NTFS? Also the partitions will need to have been legacy MBR type, so hopefully you said no if XP asked if you wanted to create a dynamic disk (a guest OS feature not to be confused with VirtualBox's dynamically allocated virtual drives).
And no, when creating a new single partition on a second drive then that partition will by definition be a primary partition, not extended or logical. The latter terms only apply when creating >4 partitions on a single drive using MBR/DOS partitioning.
