VirtualBow Updates

Once again, after installing a new version, the old configuration is lost and I must go through the full guesswork to (try and) bring back my workspace.

This time, I upgraded from 4.3.8 to 4.3.10 and its GuestAdditions.

VB is installed on Windows 8.1 and the guest is Ubuntu 12.04.

First, GuestAddition did not get installed even though I was asked if I wanted it. Answering 'Yes' should automatically install these GuestAdditions.

Now, the shared folders was set at auto mount and full access (which worked as expected in 4.3.8 ). After updating VB, shared folders are still set as before, but the folder is not mounted on startup.

My physical screen is 1920x1080, and my older config was set to use exactly this resolution. The new config is not up to that resolution.

I hate to spend time to retrieve the older configuration each time. Why can't the update proces take care of that and reinstall whatever is necessary to recreate the environment?

I can't answer why yours doesn't but anytime I've upgraded VirtualBox, any guests open the same as I left them before the upgrade, including mounting any shared folders.

Why do you update? Was there a feature that you wanted? Remember if it isn't broken why try to fix it.

To answer the rest of your questions it is the guest that is not happy with the new version of VirtualBox and the fact that it was looking for different things. You ask why it can't just take care of it? Well that is because you are the one that controls what gets done.

Update 4.3.12 installed faultlessly, including guest extensions.

You installed 4.3.12 even after the debacle you had with the update to 4.3.10? You have nerves of steel. :)
