Ctrl-C Makes VirtualMachine dissapear

When I click ctrl+c it makes the virtual machine dissapear. This started happening after I disconnected a second monitor from my laptop. Prior to disconnecting it, I set my windows display to only display on my laptop. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this?
