memory discrepancy
Not sure what all this means but, I gave one of my 32 Linux guests with a PAE kernel 16GBs of ram and once it starts it thinks it has 16GBs. However, looking at the Activity Monitor from the Mac, the guest is using less than 800MB. I thought a guest reserves whatever memory is assigned to it. It looks like it only uses what it needs up to 16GBs?
I'm confused this morning.

Re: memory discrepancy
seeing it does it with multiple guests I don't think any of those would be relevant. not to mention time consuming to post all of them for each guest.socratis wrote:Screenshots? Logs? Other info/clues?

Re: memory discrepancy
apparently it has something to do with Linux guests. I increased the memory of my two Windows guests and they reserve nearly all 16GB when running. i.e. 10GB more or less.

memory ballooning is supposedly not working on OSX hosts.mpack wrote:Memory ballooning?

Re: memory discrepancy
maybe they mean not working well or sorta working or intermittant. don't know.
drag and drop is supposed to work with Linux guests but it varies depending on the number of cores and the particular Linux guest and sometimes not at all.

Re: memory discrepancy
Verified with OSX 10.6.8
- Memory assigned to guest: 12288 MB (just shy of the warning for memory overcommitting)
Not even close. Hope I didn't waste everyone's bandwidth...

Yes. I suspect they are working on it and until it works correctly they just say it doesn't work.mpack wrote:Hmm. Yes, the manual does say that.loukingjr wrote:memory ballooning is supposedly not working on OSX hosts.
