Good news: Finally! Graphical Network Bridging on SUSE Linux

Hi all !

Due to the hard work of the community (including me :) ) - openSUSE 11.0 will be the first general-purpose Linux OS, that will feature graphical bridging, similarly to Windows XP.

Until now, configuring bridging in Linux required command-line skills. No more.

This way, VirtualBox will be able to create TAP interfaces via VBox GUI, while using SUSE's Yast, you will be able to map those TAP interfaces to bridge interfaces and to "eth" interfaces.

Unlike Windows XP, openSUSE 11.0 allows to creating multiple bridges via GUI.

Please test this feature... and share your experience...

Please provide me with the steps needed to test and I'll be happy to do it with my openSUSE 11.0 beta machine.

Well, you need to: (openSUSE 11 side)
1. Start Yast
2. Network Module
3. Add Bridge network interface (like a new Ethernet LAN card)
4. Configure the bridge to work with your physical Ethernet card (you can assign several ethernet cards to bridge)

All the rest: (VirtualBox side)
1. create a TAP interface
2. Use host-based networking with guests

openSUSE 11 side, again:
5. Join the new TAP interface to bridge via Yast.
