Ubuntu shutdown and restart doesn't start with login scrn

Post by BinduRao »

Hi,

I installed Ubuntu 14.4 on VirtualBox 4.3.10. The kernel build was fine and the session was setup correctly with the required packages.
I tried to shutdown Ubuntu and then from VirtualBox selected 'Start' Option.
I was expecting a login screen for Ubuntu as the setup was complete. However, I see install ubuntu screen, where I have to start the
installation, kernel compilation all over again :(
Is there any setting, which I have to take care, which I am missing?? I assume the .iso image is loaded every time when I select start.
Please help.

What would you do if this happened on a real PC?

Hint: remove the install disk?

Does that mean, the Storage option in the Settings has to be modified, which is pointing to CD/DVD image?

No. On the menu at the top of the VM window choose Devices|CD|Remove disk.
