How do I map or connect a mac folder to the windows 7 guest system? Windows 7 Enterprise, Os X 10.9 Maverik.

Assuming you already installed the guest additions... In the VirtualBox GUI. Click on Shared Folders. Click the Plus Icon. navigate to the folder you want to share on your Mac. Check Auto-Mount.
Start your Windows guest and the folder will be in the side pane of Windows Explorer.

I have done that and the folder does not show up in the explorer left pane.

did you install the guest additions in Windows? If you did, you need to restart Windows before you can see it. If not, you still need to install the guest additions.
