Office 2010 Install Errors on Windows 7
Posted: 2. May 2014, 16:02
Hello Everyone,
Running a vanilla install of Windows 7 SP1 from Microsoft's VLSC, I can't get an install of Office Professional Plus 2010 to finish. I've re-downloaded the OS and Office installer multiple times. I've burned DVDs, mounted ISOs through VirtualBox, copied setup files to the desktop, and mounted ISOs in the guest through Virtual CloneDrive.
No matter what I do, the office installer ALWAYS errors out saying it can't find one of its .cab files. Which .cab file it can't find changes each time. Whenever I look up this issue thinking it isn't related to VirtualBox, but is instead a guest OS problem, the fixes proposed that work for everyone else don't work for me.
Example error message:
"Setup cannot find Excel.en-us\ExcelLR.cab. Browse to a valid installation source, and then click OK."
I do this, going exactly where the .cab is shown in Windows Explorer, and then get the same message over and over. Everything else on the Windows install that I've tried has worked properly, including installing a number of other programs. Why is this not working!?
Host Hardware:
2012 11" MacBook Air
1.7GHz i5
8GB RAM
256GB SSD
VMs stored and run off USB3.0 WD drive
Virtual Box v4.3.10
VM Settings:
2 CPU cores
2GB RAM (I've also tried 4GB)
40GB .VMDK storage (I'll be porting this to another machine, so I wanted this format over .VDI)
Windows 7 Pro SP1 (I've tried 32-bit and 64-bit)
Any help is much appreciated!
