Internet Connection from the guest operating system

Post by Azhar »

Hi,
I need to download few files from virtual box machine So need to connect to internet from virtual box.
My host operating system is windows 7 Professional SP 1
My guest operating system is Oracle LInux.
I have .vmdk image file to be mounted.
please help me identifying the below step
1.How to choose network adapter at the import virtual appliance screen
It has below options
AMD PCNet PCI II (Am79C970A);
AMD PCNet FAST III (Am79C973, the default);
Intel PRO/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM);
Intel PRO/1000 T Server (82543GC);
Intel PRO/1000 MT Server (82545EM);
Paravirtualized network adapter (virtio-net).

Under network connections of My host system I can see two connections available

1 . LAN ( Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller)

2. VirtualBox Host- Only Network ( Virtualbox Host- Only Ethernet Adapter)

I need to know what settings i need to make in order to make my guest connected to internet and accessible from the other machines on lan

I also need to know how to select operating mode for the network adapter selected

Any help appreciated. Sorry If i have violated any rules for posting in forum. :|

In the VM config, under the network section, for the first adapter : Select NAT mode, don't change the default adapter type, and make sure the checkbox "Cable Connected" is checked - it should work out of the box.
