Win 8.1 Odd Dual Display Minimize/Restore Behavior

I have a Win 8.1 VM that I run in full screen dual display mode from Linux/Mint (KDE) on 4.3.10. The latest guest additions are installed.

If I minimize one of the 2 VM windows VirtualBox will often restore it on its own without me asking to restore it. Not really sure exactly when it happens because it seems that any mouse movement can trigger it. But it does seem tied to mouse movement... not sure I have had it happen when I wasn't moving the mouse cursor. Whatever the cause is, it is a major annoyance to have the window periodically restoring on its own after I minimized it, and then having to reminimize it, then having it restore again 60 seconds later. Is there any way to disable or change this behavior?

Another option would be to use seamless mode instead of full screen mode, which is very cool, but there seems to be issues when Windows opens the start/apps screen or the context menu on the start button... basically any time the OS writes to the display other than in a standard window or the task bar... that stuff just gets cut off and is not rendered in seamless mode. As a (not great but usable) workaround I can take any unrelated application window that happens to be open on the VM and maximize it. Then it will overlay whatever the OS writes to the display over that window... meaning I can see 90% of the start/apps screen. I can live with that but wondering if there is a fix.
