Intel HD Graphics and VirtualBox
It seems a number of people have screen sizing issues if they happen to have an Intel Processor with Intel HD Graphics even with the guest additions installed. I just ordered a new MacBook Air with Intel HD Graphics 5000 so I guess I'm about to find out in 3 to 5 days. Will update this when I receive it.

Re: Intel HD Graphics and VirtualBox
Most people have Intel processors, so I doubt that's a useful diagnostic, and likewise I assume the processor will often be part of a motherboard which uses an Intel chipset which includes graphics, so again. ...
I had a problem myself a little while back with another OpenGL application, turned out all I had to do was visit the Intel site and download more up-to-date drivers.

Re: Intel HD Graphics and VirtualBox
Maybe I should have explained a little more. Intel has released a family of i5 and i7 processors that have intel HD graphics built into the processor. no discrete graphics card or chip. It still may not be the problem but I also read in a few places here in the forum Intel HD Graphics have been a problem. I also read a number of posts of people with basically my setup and OS version that despite having the guest additions installed were having screen resizing issues. MacBook Pros now come with two ways of displaying graphics, the built into the chip Intel HD Graphics and a second discrete graphics card. People on other hosts also have mentioned it.mpack wrote:Most people have Intel processors, so I doubt that's a useful diagnostic, and likewise I assume the processor will often be part of a motherboard which uses an Intel chipset which includes graphics, so again. ...

btw, there is no way to update graphics drivers on Macs unless Apple feels some need to update firmware which they rarely ever do.
It may or not be a problem. As I said, I will see shortly.

Re: Intel HD Graphics and VirtualBox
Well. My MacBook Air arrived with it's Intel HD Graphics 5000. I had zero issues installing Ubuntu 14.04 LTS and the GAs and resizing the screen, 3D works etc. so as far as a diagnostic tool, it seems the Intel HD graphics aren't the issue. At least not on MacBook Airs. I also had no trouble at all connecting to the internet from the guest using NAT or Bridged.
