OK having a problem with screen resolution and size on a Ubuntu guest on a Windows host. I realise I need to install 'guest additions' but where do I find them??

The users manual, starting at chapter 4.2.1.1 is a good place to find them.

Also, Ubuntu has a package for the guest additions available in Synaptic

That works *IF* you installed their version of VirtualBox. If however you installed the one from VirtualBox.org you really should use the official guest additions that are supplied in the VirtualBox package.
