Hi,
I have only the option to run 32Bit machines on my dual processor opteron 285. Motherboard Tyan S2895.
VMWare supports 64bit VM without problems
I don't know the reason. Maybe it is the same that don't let me upgrade my legitimate Windows 8 to 8.1 due to strange CPU missing functionalities.
Could you please help me ?
Regards,
GiuseppeKK

Your CPU doesn't support Virtualization, which is a requirement for Virtualbox to run 64 bits guests.

Are you claiming that VMWare supports 64bit VMs on this same host? As far as I know, VMWare requires AMD-v for that just as VirtualBox does. And as far as I can tell, the AMD Athlon 64 X2 doesn't support this feature. Hence I think you must be mistaken.

VMWare let me choose any 64Bit OS I select. This caused my error.mpack wrote:Are you claiming that VMWare supports 64bit VMs on this same host? You are right. Every 64Bit OS I run crashes VMWare the emulation.
