hardware virtualisation

Post by nugget »

hi all,
my problem is that i am unable to get Hardware Virtualisation up in àny of my VM boxes.

i m running Win7/64 ultimate with 3570K/+8GB and latest Vbox (4.3.10)
my system does have virtualisation support active (confirmed by the Ms. HAV tool)
current VM box runs ubuntu 14.04 64 bit with 2 GB/2cpu
according to my logs vt-d is running:
VM: fHMEnabled=true (configured) fRecompileUser=false fRecompileSupervisor=false
HMR3Init: VT-x w/ nested paging
HM: Using VT-x implementation 2.0!
HM: VT-x/AMD-V init method: LOCAL
however in the vbox OS after installing the full QEMU package and tools:
kvm-ok : your cpu does not support KVM extentions. kvm acceleration can NOT be used
i also did the egrep on cpuinfo : 0

i also just installed latest virtual PC with an XP in which the Ms HAV tool reports no virtualisation possible.
this makes me wonder if something on my system prevents HV running correctly
if so, why is Vbox HV "doing fine" according to the logs ?

If you are checking for the Virtualization extension in the guest OS, you will not find it - Virtualbox does not pass it to the guest, since nested virtualization is not supported.
