Installing OS on different partition

Hello there. I just downloaded the virtual machine and tried to set up a windows virtual machine, but the system was installing on my default windows partition (C:), where I only have around 10gb space left. I have another partition for my files (E:) where I have enough space. Is it possible to install the system on my other partition (E:)?

For new VMs:
File | Preferences | General | Default Machine Folder.
To move an existing VM:
Howto: Move a VM.

Thanks a lot, Im stupid. I though it would be in the machine's settings, or during install. One last question, will installing new OS on virtual machine on different (or any) partition, format the harddrive?

nope. you aren't actually installing the VM on a partition. You are creating a file on the drive just like any other file.
