The copy and paste functions are not working in the guest OS. I have installed Guest Additions, and also set both Shared Clipboard and Drag N Drop to 'Bidirectional' .
VirtualBox version : 4.3.10
Guest Additions installed : 4.3.10
Host : Windows 7 64 bit
Guest : Windows 7 64 bit
Host : 8 GB RAM
Guest : 2.5 GB RAM allocated

Drag and Drop doesn't work to a Windows guest, so that's irrelevant. Copy and paste (clipboard) works with images and text - not files.

I tried copying a image, it doesn't work as well =/
Text copying works.
Hmm, I am a VMWare user previously, so this lacking functionality of file copying affects convenience greatly .. although performance wise, VirtualBox is much better on my laptop.
Time for me to configure Shared Folders..

It does work. You can't copy an image file but you can copy an image in the clipboard.

Hi,
found this post because my clipboard stopped working in the last 2 weeks, so I checked the forum.
Perhaps this info helps somebody...
Host Ubuntu 12.04.4, Guest Win7.
One VM has autoupdates turned off and still works regarding Clipboard (last update was end of march).
Two others do autoupdate and both have issues with Clipboard. I also installed MS "XML Notepad" to these two VMs - uninstall did not fix.
Uninstalling the updates did not fix it either.
Currently I restore an older backup (60GB) of the vdi.
I can also confirm that images are not working. I tried to cut/copy from gimp and other image tools and paste into Outlook (example).
Perhaps the native formats are different?

And I can confirm copying text and images works from...
1. Mac Host to Windows guests
2. Windows guests to Mac host
3. Mac Host to Linux guests
$. Linux guests to Mac host.
Although I wouldn't bet my life on it, I assume the same is true for Windows and Linux hosts. One thing I noticed a while ago, if there is a clipboard manager installed either on the Host or Guest, there is a good chance the clipboard won't work.

Hi,
More details.
Ubuntu 12-04.04-64 host Win7-32 guest.
I assume there is a regression in 4.3.10. Since some time the clipboard was working fine (text). I think it was early 4.3 series that made it working (and worked with 2.0 from recall).
Some research with a fresh VM showed misterius effects.
Because of a quick test I suspected an MS update (specifically the resent IE11 cumulative update).
So I started with a prepared VM created early March with all updates at that time. Then added the updates until it broke (lots of reboot of VM).
If it is broken, then going back to a previously working snapshot does not help. Still broken.
And if it is broken, another VM suddenly has the same issues with clipboard. So it looks like there is a host issue.
With broken clipboard I mean these effects:
Copy in host, nothing gets pasted in notepad. TakeCmd (comand line tool) even crashes with illegal exception.
It looks like the different clipboards are disconnected from each other.
Sometimes it helps to copy some text inside the VM and paste in host.
I bet there is some uninialized variable in host.
