Disconnect/Connect audio device while guest is powered on

On my linux host, I have ALSA configured to not use software mixing, because it hurts sound quality.However, because virtualbox only allows audio to be disabled/enabled while the guest is powered off, I have to restart and reconfigure virtualbox everytime I want to give audio control to the guest or a host application.

VMware has this feature, but it would be nice to have it in virtualbox.

Bump.Anyone know if this has been implemented/there are plans for this to be implemented/will never be implemented?
