Hello,
I came across an issue with VirtualBox post Host upgrade from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8.1 Update.
Host: Windows 8.1 Update
Guest Windows 7
VirtualBox: 4.3.10 r93012
Only single CPU available for Guest systems: tested with Win7 and Ubuntu Guests
Existing VM's fail to launch with error:

E_FAIL (0x80004005)

Newly build VMs using hosts Windows 8.1 Update only can have single CPU and 32-bit.

Turn off the Hyper-v service in the host OS.
