Ubuntu Crash on Windows 7 64bit

Post by Hobby_boy »

Since I updated virtualbox from 4.3.6 to 4.3.8 and 4.3.10, virtualbox crashes when my Ubuntu virtual machine is being shut down. It doesn't crash when the machine is being restarted though.
In event viewer I noticed the following application error:

Code: Select all

Faulting application name: VirtualBox.exe, version: 4.3.10.0, time stamp: 0x533315cb
Faulting module name: atio6axx.dll, version: 6.14.10.12422, time stamp: 0x52212c19
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000000000be1b57
Faulting process id: 0x1ad4
Faulting application start time: 0x01cf5808ee2e4065
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\Oracle\VirtualBox\VirtualBox.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\system32\atio6axx.dll
Report Id: 6b72b173-c3fc-11e3-94eb-94de80a0a439
I have catalyst control centre 13.9 installed (version 2013.0830.1944.33589), Direct 3D 9.14.10.0984, and OpenGL 6.14.10.12422

This only happens if 3D acceleration is turned on. If 3D acceleration is disabled, the crash doesn't happen.

Same experience here with Windows 7 64 bit host and various Ubuntu versions as guest. Thanks for the tip to disable 3D acceleration.
