Virtual box with ubuntu problems

I am running virtual box 4.3.10 on windows 7 with Ubuntu as my guest OS.

I have 3 problems

1)
I want to run the 64 bit version of ubuntu but if i try and run this in the VM it simply says that it requires a 64bit CPU
When i setup a VM all of the OS options are 32 bit versions.

How can I enable/create a 64bit VM?

2)
Ubuntu's display window only allows me to select displays up to 1024x768 and it reports the display as a laptop
How can i solve this problem.

Finally.
3)
If i choose USB tablet or USB multi-touch as my pointer device then the cursor switches seamlessly between host and VM when i mouse over/out of the VM window, but within the VM the mouse lags.
If i choose PS/2 mouse I have to switch the mouse focus between the VM and host by clicking on the VM window or using the Host key. This mouse works smoothly.

Is these anyway to have the smoothness of a PS/2 mouse with the convenience of being able to seamlessly switch between Host and VM on mouse over/out

I have tried connecting 2 mice to my machine and filtering one of them so the input is only received by the Guest OS. This works fine but having 2 mice which i am using at the same time is rather fiddly so i don't like this solution.

My PC specs are as follows

Windows 7 64bit
i5 2500k CPU - (this CPU does not have visualization VT-X support)
8gb ram
780GTX 3gb graphics card
1x 1TB sata hard drive
2x 150GB SATA SDD drives (configured as a 300gb RAID 0 hdd configured using the BIOS controller (my host OS only sees this as one drive)) - (the VM is stored on this drive)
1080p monitor

64-bit guests are going to require hardware virtualization ( VT-x ). According to Intel your CPU should have this support.

As for the resolution and mouse issues, install the guest additions ( in the guest ) and USB issues need to have the Extension pack installed ( in the host )
You can see these and more in your VirtualBox users manual.

i5 2500 CPUs have VT-X
i5 2550k CPUs do not have VT-X

I just go by what intel says. http://ark.intel.com/products/65647/Int ... o-3_80-GHz
The guest additions are explained in Chapter 4 of your users manual. It adds features to the guest that allows it to use advanced features such as video acceleration, mouse integration, Etc.

The virtual machine does not use the host GPU directly. The most you can set is 256MB and you need to trick it to get that high.
You really will not need more.
