VirtualBox crashes "Scan For Hardware Changes"

Post by bugmenot44 »

Virtualbox Version: 4.3.10 r93012
Guest Extensions: 4.3.10 r93012
Host OS: Windows 7 x64 SP1
Guest OS: Windows XP SP3 x86
CPU: Core2 T8100 Virtualization enabled and active

This is what I get when I click "Scan For Hardware Changes" in Device Manager:

I have also observed that the standby button is greyed out when I shutdown. The system also hangs sometimes on shutdown, either by the Windows Is Shutting Down screen or with garbled graphics, and I have to shut it down by force.

Please see my attached xp2.txt for my configuration. To see it with the correct text parsing, please open it in Wordpad and not Notepad.

Let me answer my own questions:

1) VirtualBox' ICH8/8M AHCI implementation is broken. I switched to Buslogic SCSI using VMWare Driver 2.0.3.0, and it's working perfectly now.
2) Standby is intentionally disabled by VirtualBox.

Thanks
