Mac --> Ubuntu Shared folder bad superblock

Post by Kamik423 »

Hi, I have ubuntu guest running on my mac book pro, and when I try making a shared folder with

Code: Select all

sudo mount -t vboxsf folder_name path_to_mount_point
I get

Code: Select all

mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /home/kamik423/Documents,
missing codepage or helper program, or other error
In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try
       dmesg | tail or so
I have tried a lot of things, but it does not work, what do I do wrong/do I have to do?

Thank you

There seems to be an issue with where the actual mount.vboxsf file is located with version 4.3.10. You can either find the exact location and create a symlink or use 4.3.8

If you don't know then it would be better for you to revert to 4.3.8
The next maintenance release will have the fix.

You're holding it wrong (famous Jobs-esian words). No, seriously, you're not doing anything wrong, and yes, it is a known issue with 4.3.10, as Perryg said. Take a look at ticket #12879. There you'll find the temporary fix if you don't want to wait for the next release.

BTW, if you had used the "Search" functionality in the forums or the bugtracker it would have saved you the headache.
