Windows 2008 issue

Post by RexZShadow »

I'm watching this series of videos learning about windows 2008 and hit a wall right off the bat at installation. Idk if its a virtual box thing or not but there is a part where you set the static IP rather than let it automatically get it. So I follow the instruction to enter an IP thats 1 off from the gate way ip and set it up. But after that no internet access.

I double checked and my default gate way IP is 192.168.0.1, and I enter 192.168.0.2 as my ip for that server, but no internet. Does virtual box make the default IP for gate way different? Anyone got any idea? Thanks for any help.

Depends on what you are using for the adapter type. Bridged,Host-only, Nat.

You need to explain a bit more before anyone can actually help.
The easiest would be to post the results of the following:
From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.

Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

As well as the guests log file ( as an attachment )
