Won't let me install Windows 8 after 7
Won't let me install Windows 8 after 7
I have Windows 7 installed on a virtual machine, and I want to put 8 on it. I ran the Windows 8 upgrade program, but it doesn't work; it says I need a 1 GhZ Processor. I have more than twice that, and Windows 7 even recognizes 2.2 GhZ Dual-Core. But the Windows 8 upgrade program won't. What can I do to fix this?

Which program is that? Do you have a link that we can download?Weboh wrote:I have Windows 7. I ran the Windows 8 upgrade program

If you mean Microsoft's "Upgrade Assistant", I should just ignore the messages. Windows 8 will run in a virtual machine without problem, provided your kit is up to it. I do not know details, but I suspect the upgrade assistant is rather like Windows 7's "Experience Index" - it doesn't give sensible results in a virtual context.

with the guest shutdown you could try changing your Windows type to Windows 8 (32 or 64 bit). start the guest and retry the upgrade assistant.
